KUALA LUMPUR – Police shot a suspect and arrested four others in Brickfields here following a robbery today.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said in the 1pm incident, officers from the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters and Sentul CID trailed the suspects, who were in a Nissan Almera, through the city.
He said the vehicle was seen near a number of banks in Sentul and Dang Wangi.
One of the suspects was seen deflating the tyres of a car belonging to a woman and then trailing her to a petrol station in Cheras, after which the group stole a bag containing RM194,000 in cash.
Police followed the suspects before intercepting their vehicle in Jalan Berhala, Brickfields.
The suspect behind the wheel tried to ram into police cars, prompting officers to open fire, aiming at the said suspect and the vehicle’s tyres. One shot hit the suspect’s chest.
