KUALA LUMPUR – Air Selangor Sdn Bhd is currently in the process of restarting the treatment process at the Sg Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (LRA) that was halted yesterday so that clean and safe treated water can be distributed to consumers.

Corporate communications head Elina Baseri said the move comes after zero threshold odour number (TON) level readings were recorded three times in a row at 6am today.

She said, following the stoppage of the Sg Semenyih LRA, a total of 463 areas in five Air Selangor regions, namely Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54), Sepang (194), Putrajaya (23) and Kuala Langat (20) suffered unscheduled water supply disruptions.

“A total of 94 water tankers were mobilised to the affected areas as well as critical premises during the supply disruption and Air Selangor is taking all efforts to minimise the impact of the disruption to consumers,” she said in a statement today.

Air Selangor will also announce developments related to the incident from time to time, she said.

Yesterday, Air Selangor said the Sg Semenyih water treatment plant was forced to shut down once again following another incident of odour pollutionin its raw water source.

On Tuesday, those same areas faced a similar water disruption after odour pollution was detected at the Jenderam Hilir water pump station at 11.10am. – Bernama, September 4, 2021
