KUALA LUMPUR – The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has expressed his gratitude and satisfaction at the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the government and opposition.
In a statement issued by Royal Comptroller Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin today, Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed hope that the MoU will bring an end to political chaos and enable MPs to unite in handling the pandemic.
“The king has expressed hope that with the signing of the MoU, it will put an end to the political turmoil, and the MPs will set aside their political agendas and unite in overcoming Covid-19 for the good of the rakyat and country.
“His Royal Highness also reiterated that the people should not be burdened by the endless political turmoil while the country is troubled by health issues and an economic slowdown,” the statement read.

The king also shared the view of other Malay rulers on the importance of forming a stable and functional government that upholds integrity and well-orderliness in facing various crises.
“His Royal Highness advised all MPs in their Parliament session to put the people’s problems and well-being of the country first.
“He also advised MPs to return their focus to battling the pandemic and bringing hope and light back to the people and country,” he said.
The king is confident that the country’s economic recovery can be expedited via political stability and intensified vaccinations, adding that these factors are important to restore investor confidence.
“His Royal Highness also stressed the need for the government to hasten policies that are business- and investment-friendly to improve Malaysia’s competitiveness.
“He urged all Malaysians to support the frontliners by adhering to standard operating procedures and rules set by the government.
