KUALA LUMPUR – Grab Malaysia and the Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs Ministry officially launched its “Minggu Peniaga Kecil” (Small Business Week) campaign today to help small local food and beverage (F&B) businesses maximise their sales and profits.
In a joint statement today, Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the campaign is in line with the objectives set by the ministry to help businesses adapt to the challenges at the present juncture.
“With over 98.5% of businesses in Malaysia comprising small and medium enterprises (SMEs), we are encouraged to see platforms like Grab supporting small businesses through technology and various efforts implemented such as the Minggu Peniaga Kecil promotion,” Nanta said.
As part of the GrabFood Small Business Programme, the Minggu Peniaga Kecil campaign is expected to benefit almost 39,000 small businesses.
Grab Malaysia managing director Sean Goh said GrabFood’s shared success model creates a conducive platform for all businesses to grow and thrive.
“With Minggu Peniaga Kecil, we are taking this a step further by driving additional awareness for the smaller F&B brands,” he said, adding that he appreciated the support provided by the ministry to uplift and support small businesses nationwide.
According to the 2021 Food Delivery Industry Overview report, Malaysia was the third highest in the Southeast Asia region for new users to online food delivery services.
Based on the insights provided by said report, Grab piloted the Minggu Peniaga Kecil campaign to increase the visibility of small businesses through their platform via promotions.
The promotions have attracted almost 70% new customers for these small businesses, who are also eligible to receive a special “Peniaga Kecil” relief rebate for every promo order they receive.
From 24-30 September, Grab users can enjoy 30% off for orders above RM20 when they use the promo code PENIAGAKECIL.
