KUALA LUMPUR – Sg Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu of DAP has been arrested a day after the police announced an investigation into his Facebook post.

Bukit Aman personnel today arrested Liu while he was questioned at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters, said lawyer Jadavish Chandra.

Liu is being investigated for offences under the Sedition Act and the Multimedia and Communications Act.

He allegedly uploaded a posting on his Facebook account “Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew” with images of mass protests that took place in neighbouring Thailand.

“Now in Bangkok. They are saying no to the king.”

Federal Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Huzir Mohamed yesterday said the cops had opened an investigation paper on October 21 and would summon Liu to record his statement. – The Vibes, October 28, 2020
