BUKIT MERTAJAM – A foreign woman was allegedly raped and robbed after an unknown man broke into her dormitory room in a two-storey house in Prai early on Tuesday.

In the 4am incident, it is believed the suspect also took off with RM200 belonging to the 23-year-old victim.

Seberang Prai Tengah police chief Shafee Abd Samad said the suspect threatened the victim with a machete, ordering her to remain silent before raping and robbing her.

He said yesterday that initial investigations found that the victim was sleeping in an upstairs room with the door locked.

“The suspect is believed to have entered the house by applying a leverage to the room door. The victim was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for examination after she lodged a police report.”

Following that, Shafee said police arrested two local men believed to be working as private cleaning workers at 7pm that same day.

“Checks on the two suspects found that they have a record of criminal activities and drug abuse.

“Both suspects are remanded for five days starting yesterday, to assist in the investigation under Section 376 and Section 392/397 of the Penal Code.” – The Vibes, October 15, 2021
