KUALA LUMPUR – Water supply will be fully restored to 145 areas in Sepang and 11 areas in Kuala Langat by 6pm tomorrow, said Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd following a burst pipe at Simpang 3 LBJ, Jalan B48, Kg Chinchang in Salak Tinggi last night.

Water supply will be restored in stages starting 6.30pm today.

In a Facebook post, Air Selangor said emergency repair work is 29% complete as of 6am today.

In a later tweet, it said that work is 55% complete as of 9am.

“Air Selangor’s onsite staff faced some challenges as the burst pipe is located near the river. As such, the process of strengthening the river banks must be conducted first before the emergency repair work can be implemented. The emergency repair work is expected to be completed by 6pm today.

“The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the distance of consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system.”

Air Selangor will continue to mobilise water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals, dialysis centres, as well as funeral services.

Consumers are required to adhere to social distancing and to wear face masks at all times while collecting water from tankers.

Consumers can refer to all official communication channels, namely the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, or contact the Air Selangor contact centre at 15300 to obtain information from time to time.

Inquiries and complaints can also be submitted to the help centre via www.airselangor.com and the Air Selangor application. http://www.airselangor.com

Yesterday, the unscheduled water supply disruption was reported at 9pm after Air Selangor announced in a statement that the water supply was shut off to ensure repair work could be conducted properly. – The Vibes, October 19, 2021
