KOTA KINABALU – In a bid to help connect jobseekers with potential employers, the state government has set up online portal Sabah Jobs.
State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Yakub Khan said the portal is timely and will help those who lost their jobs during the pandemic.
“This is the state government’s new platform to help the people of Sabah so that they don’t have to seek jobs through conventional methods.
“We expect the portal to benefit jobseekers of all ages, and for employers to find the human resource that they need,” he told a press conference after launching the Human Resource Development Department’s 33rd anniversary celebration here today.
Yakob said his ministry will also organise career carnivals in rural areas soon.
“This is our approach to provide information and opportunities to the people outside the city,” he added.
In September, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan had revealed that Sabah and Labuan have the highest unemployment rates in the country.
He said that the rate has increased to 8.8% in Sabah and 8.7% in Labuan. – The Vibes, October 28, 2021
