KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today recorded 957 new Covid-19 cases as opposed to yesterday’s 659 cases, said the Health Ministry in a statement.
This brings the national cumulative infections to 32,505 cases.
All the new cases are locally transmitted.
Currently, there are 10,036 active cases with 97 of them in intensive care and 27 on ventilator support.
There are also 972 recovered cases, leading the total number of recoveries to 22,220.
No fatalities were reported today, keeping the toll at 249.
For local transmission cases, Sabah tops the list at 644 cases, followed by Selangor (225), Penang (23), Labuan (18), Terengganu (15), Sarawak (11), Negri Sembilan (8), Perak (5), Kuala Lumpur (4), Johor (1), Kedah (1), Melaka (1) and Putrajaya (1).
Two new clusters were also identified today – Usaha cluster and Tembaga cluster.
The Usaha cluster today involved Klang and Petaling districtS in Selangor. The index case was identified Covid-19 positive after the patient showed symptoms and screened for Covid-19 on Friday. Close contact tracing revealed that another 16 people positive for Covid-19.
All 17 of them have been admitted to Sg Buloh Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Tembaga cluster is found in Penang after the index case was identified as Covid-19 positive from a severe acute respiratory infection screening on October 28. Close contact tracing revealed another six people to be Covid-19 positive.
