KUALA LUMPUR – Yet another member of the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) has contracted Covid-19, the management confirmed today.

The latest case comes a day after a club employee tested positive for the virus.

Earlier, three RSGC members tested positive.

In a statement this morning, RSGC said the fifth patient was confirmed positive on October 31 and has been admitted to hospital.

“The member played golf on Sunday, October 25, and was part of the after-golf gathering that took place at the Men’s Bar.”

Yesterday, the club urged all members who used the men’s changing room between October 20 and 27 to get screened for Covid-19 following the staffer’s positive test.

The club remains closed until further notice.

RSGC captain Tan Sri Eddy Chen Lok Loi, in a message yesterday, said the facility is doing its utmost to reopen in the safest way possible by adhering to best practices and mandatory standard operating procedures.

“There will be inconveniences. Golfing and other activities will not be ‘business as usual’. There will be changes as we try to build confidence and transition to the new normal.”

He admitted that the club had been slow to disseminate information, but said this is due to ethics.

“Sometimes, the information given by those who tested positive is incomplete, and we have to review hours of CCTV footage to determine their extensive movements.” – The Vibes, November 2, 2020
