KUALA LUMPUR – An equal allocation of funds for all federal constituencies has been mooted by Muda for the upcoming Budget 2021.

“The equal allocation of funds for all parliamentary constituencies, for all MPs, to ensure efficient disbursement to affected areas and the centralisation of assistance for citizens,” said the youth-based party in a statement listing 10 proposals ahead of Friday’s budget bill showdown.

It also proposed additional grants and tax breaks for businesses that prioritise locals and fresh graduates when hiring, as well as environmentally friendly practices.

Muda called for the loan moratorium to be extended till next June, and the provision of one laptop per family or an allowance of RM1,000 for the purpose of online learning.

Rounding up the list are:

– Cash assistance of RM50 a month for university students for online learning, for the next six months;

– Two months’ bonus for Covid-19 frontliners;

– Additional training grants for the unemployed, as well as work placements;

– Extension of the wage subsidy programme from January to June 2021, and an increase in subsidies for industries badly affected by the pandemic;

– Widening the social security network for vulnerable communities, including victims of domestic abuse and the disabled; and,

– Allocation of funds to encourage sustainable energy investments in the fight against climate change. – The Vibes, November 2, 2020
