KUALA LUMPUR – Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition is unfazed by the negative comments and betrayals coming their way.
In fact, Zahid said it would only make BN’s machinery stronger ahead of the upcoming Melaka polls.
Commenting on Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s statements yesterday, Zahid suggested such actions are hypocritical given the Pagoh MP made his name in the political arena through BN.
“It is sad that such traitorous words were made by someone who made his name in the political world through the support of BN’s grassroots.
“But whatever the PN chairman says, BN’s loyal supporters know the coalition’s struggle better,” Zahid said in a Facebook post today.
The Umno lawmaker further said Muhyiddin’s betrayal would only see BN’s machinery grow stronger to wrest away the state, come November 20.
He said it is clear that Umno’s decision to end political cooperation with Bersatu was a good decision, given Muhyiddin’s actions.
“The people have seen that BN has never backed away from taking care of the nation’s interest, although we lost in the 14th general election.
“Various deceptive statements and mockeries were hurled at BN, and it never destroyed the loyalty of our supporters,” Zahid added.
During a press conference in the Bemban constituency yesterday, Muhyiddin announced that PN would appoint a chief minister from Bersatu, should they win the state polls.
Additionally, Muhyiddin slammed Umno veteran Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad over the latter’s comments daring Bersatu to withdraw its support from the Umno-led Johor government.
Calling Shahrir “stupid”, Muhyiddin said he will not trigger an election in Johor the same way Umno did in Melaka. – The Vibes, November 13, 2021
