KUALA LUMPUR – All menteris besar and chief ministers have agreed to amend their state constitutions to allow individuals aged 18 to become candidates in a general election, state election, or by-election.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the matter was decided at the 137th Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers’ Meeting yesterday.
“The meeting also agreed that there should be more engagement sessions between the federal and state governments, especially on development projects in all states,” he said in a statement here today.
He called on all state governments to expedite the implementation of economic and business projects to stimulate economic activities.
“Among the matters that should be handled well is the delay in approving land and business licences at state government and local authorities levels,” he said. – Bernama, November 24, 2021
