MIRI – Sarawakians must not be afraid to make drastic changes to the government as it is the only way to get rid of the rampant corrupt and cronyistic practices in the state, said opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
During his visit to Kg Lambir here yesterday, Anwar said Sarawakians have the power to change the administration on polling day.
“Use your voting power to make the changes necessary in this state. Use the ballot box to get rid of corruption by the rich and powerful in Sarawak.
“This state is very rich in all kinds of resources, but the general population is still poor. The wealth is in the hands of the powerful businessmen and politicians in government.
“Sarawak is the richest state in the country in terms of resources and revenues, but the people are still so poor, without electricity and treated water in rural areas.
“You as voters of Sarawak have the power to change this when you cast your ballots.”
Anwar said many rural folk are left behind and that the wealth is in the hands of the logging operators.
He visited several villages and longhouses in the districts of Kuching, Song, Lambir, and Miri yesterday, drumming the message of reformation that PKR is built on.
Anwar said the state polls are the best opportunity for Sarawakians to vote for a government that can bring justice and equality to everyone.
He will be making more trips to Sarawak as the campaign progresses.
Before this, GPS controlled 68 of the 82 seats. Sarawak will head to the polls on December 18, with nomination day on December 6 and early voting on December 14. – The Vibes, December 4, 2021
