MIRI – Both Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) have failed to fulfil election promises made to Sarawakians, said Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Miri branch chief Bruce Chai.
Both opposing coalitions, he said, are equally ineffective in getting projects they had promised to ordinary Sarawakians done.
Chai, who is contesting for the Pujut seat, told reporters that neither GPS at the state level nor PH at the federal level delivered on various projects involving road constructions and traffic systems here.
He gave an example of a RM12 million project at the Pujut-Miri city highway.
“During the 2016 Sarawak election, the then-Barisan Nasional state government approved RM12 million to upgrade the road and roundabout.
“That project was to overcome the serious traffic congestion leading into the city.
“Until today, Sarawak BN, which is now GPS, has failed to get anything done.
“During the 2018 general election, when PH won in Putrajaya, the PH-led Works Ministry said that the Pujut-Miri city road/roundabout project will be carried out.
“Until today, nothing has been done, and the GPS and the new federal government have not even indicated if the project is still on.
“Thousands are affected by the traffic jam daily. This is just one example of many broken promises by both BN/GPS and PH,” he said.
Chai said there are also numerous housing projects promised by GPS and PH for the poor in Miri that have failed to take off.
He urged the voters of Miri and Sarawak to give PSB a chance to form the next state government come polling day on December 18.
PSB is contesting in 72 of the 82 constituencies in the state.
In Pujut, Chai will be pitting himself against Miri Mayor Adam Yii of GPS, Alan Ling of DAP, and Leslie Ting of Parti Bumi Kenyalang. – The Vibes, December 9, 2021
