KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 17 bodies have been recovered after the floods in Selangor, with 10 from Klang alone, said Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Speaking to a press conference today, the Selangor menteri besar revealed that four other victims were found in Sepang and three in Hulu Langat.

“At the moment, we have identified 17 people who have lost their lives. Currently, we are still trying to find their causes of death.

“The victims may not have died due to the floods or drowning; it could be due to lack of medicine. This will be determined soon.

“The state government offers our condolences to the victims and families who have lost loved ones,” said Amirudin.

The Sg Tua assemblyman added that the state government will be donating RM10,000 to each family that has lost loved ones.

He reiterated that RM1,000 will be given to all households affected by the floods. He said he has instructed Air Selangor to grant all affected families a one-month rebate on their January water bill.

“The state will also provide a month’s waiver on water bills in areas affected by the floods,” he said.

This is part of the state government’s RM100 million allocation for post-flood recovery efforts.

Furthermore, he also instructed a two-month moratorium for loans under Selangor’s Usahawan Hijrah programme. – The Vibes, December 21, 2021
