KUALA LUMPUR – MyEG Services Bhd will facilitate the collection of dues and/or payments related to Covid-19 detection tests and quarantine station charges issued by the government to the public.
This follows an agency agreement the company signed with the Malaysian government, and a letter of acceptance it received from the Health Ministry on October 8 to provide an online payment system for inbound travellers to register and make payments prior to their arrival in Malaysia for Covid-19 screening tests and quarantine charges at the country’s entry points.
"The agreement shall be valid for a period of two years commencing from November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2022.
“The company may apply to the government in writing for an extension of the agreement period not less than three months prior to the agreement expiry date if it intends to extend the agreement period or such other lesser period as the government may accept," the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
Under the agreement, MyEG will allow the public to make payments to the government, free of service charges and other charges to the government.
"The board of directors does not foresee any risks in relation to the services as the services have no fixed value, being dependent on the number of transactions and the service options selected by users," it said.
In a separate filing, MyEG said its Philippines arm had partnered with Family Vaccine Specialty Clinics, Inc (Health Direct Now) to develop a mobile application for the booking and payment of Covid-19 tests, along with the issuance of digital QR codes as proof of testing.
It said that Health Direct Now is an initiative by Family Vaccine and Specialty Clinics, which operates the largest chain of vaccination clinics in the Philippines, with 41 centres for accessible Covid-19 testing.
"Under the partnership, MyEG Philippines will develop the mobile application for Health Direct Now and will also be its exclusive payment gateway partner.
"MyEG Philippines will proportionally share in the profits of Covid-19 testing booths on a 50:50 basis.” – Bernama, November 5, 2020
