BENTONG – Cabinet ministers who are currently on leave and intending to go on holiday have been instructed to cancel their plans until the flood woes currently plaguing the country are resolved, the prime minister said.
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said all ministers currently abroad have also been ordered to return home immediately.
“I have been deluged with questions about our cabinet ministers. So, if they are on leave and planning to go on holiday, I want them to cancel that plan.
“If they are currently abroad, return immediately!” he told a press conference after visiting flood evacuees at SK Bukit Piatu here, today.
Ismail Sabri said he himself had to postpone his work trip to Bangkok – slated for December 28, 29 and 30 – to attend to the flood woes faced by the people right now.
“Members of security forces have also been asked to focus on helping the people in cleaning their houses once they are allowed to return home,” he said.
Meanwhile, leave for secretaries-general of all ministries as well as directors-general of departments and government agencies have been cancelled with immediate effect, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali announced.
He said this followed the instructions given by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to all cabinet ministers to cancel their holiday plans and, if they are currently abroad, to return home immediately.
“I hereby order the same (cancellation of leave) for secretaries-general of all ministries and directors-general of departments/agencies, with immediate effect,” he said in a statement here, today.
Zuki said this was to enable all government agencies to work together in ensuring the highest level of preparedness in facing the current situation for the benefit of the people. – Bernama, December 24, 2021
