GEORGE TOWN – The Penang High Court today was shown the purported location where T. Nhaveen was attacked – at the Jalan Bunga Raya neighbourhood field in Gelugor.

The statement made by the trial’s key witness at the scene appeared to be different from the facts set out in the charge sheet, which stated that Nhaveen, who was 18, was murdered near the Karpal Singh Learning Centre in Gelugor.

At the trial session held at the crime scene today, key witness T. Previin, 22, recalled how he saw Nhaveen being beaten by a group of five men.

Assisted by several policemen, Previin also re-enacted the incident in the presence of judicial commissioner Mohd Radzi Abdul Hamid.

The trial, which lasted for three hours, also took the court entourage to all the locations mentioned by Previin during his testimony yesterday.

Yesterday, Previin told the high court that there was a fifth individual who had allegedly beaten Nhaveen.

He said the four accused had hit Nhaveen using a helmet, while a man known as Gopi had hit Nhaveen using his hands.

“I saw them hitting Nhaveen, near a storage shed at the open field (the Jalan Bunga Raya neighbourhood field).

“At that time, I hid behind a tree and saw the incident clearly at a distance of about 15m,” he testified.

Previin said he witnessed the incident for more than a minute, before deciding to run home and seek help.

He then proceeded to ride a motorbike to inform Nhaveen’s mother about the incident.
