KUALA LUMPUR – The government has allocated RM16 billion to the Defence Ministry and RM17 billion to the Home Ministry under Budget 2021.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said Putrajaya plans to increase the maintenance allocation for key assets of the armed forces to RM2.3 billion from the RM2 billion previously, in view of the role they play in safeguarding the country’s borders.

“The government always ensures that the welfare of military personnel is not neglected.

“Apart from maintaining the existing living quarters of the armed forces, the government wants to construct almost 1,000 housing units, costing almost RM500 million.”

He added that RM27 million has been allocated to CyberSecurity Malaysia.

“A total of RM153 million will be provided for the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) to strengthen its role.

“The allocation includes upgrading facilities at training centres.” – The Vibes, November 6, 2020
