KOTA KINABALU – The government will not extend the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Taman Semarak and the Balung People’s Housing Project in Tawau, following a drop in new Covid-19 cases.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the National Security Council, on the advice of the Health Ministry, decided to lift the EMCO, which began on October 26, today.

“They are still subjected to the conditional MCO in the state.”

He said 524 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Sabah today, bringing the state’s total to 20,422.

“Of the 524 cases, 252 are in Tawau, Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan districts, arising from close-contact screening. The remaining 272 cases are from other categories.”

He said another two virus deaths were recorded, one each in Tawau and Sandakan.

“A total of 512 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospital today.”

He said 3,481 patients are receiving treatment – 767 at hospitals and 2,714 at low-risk treatment centres.

Seventy-four are in intensive care, with 19 on ventilators. – The Vibes, November 8, 2020
