KUALA LUMPUR – After several weeks in the National Heart Institute (IJN), two-time prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, 96, appears to be in good health.

In a TikTok video posted by user @mat_nor99 two days ago, Dr Mahathir and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali were spotted taking a stroll in the Perdana Botanical Garden, accompanied by safety and health personnel.

The 1.30-minute video clip also showed the public’s adoration as the crowd waved and took pictures of them from a distance away.

Dr Siti Hasmah, in particular, looked especially chipper as she posed with members of the public while the former prime minister walked on steadily without any aid.

A skim through the comments section of the video saw many prayers and well-wishes for the Pejuang chairman, with many users expressing their relief that Dr Mahathir was out and about once more.

On February 4, it was reported that Dr Mahathir is currently undergoing rehabilitative treatment at IJN while making scheduled visits to his home from the hospital.

According to Datin Marina Mahathir, Dr Mahathir’s daughter, his latest admission into IJN happened on January 20 as part of a follow-up treatment to an elective procedure he underwent on January 8.

She had then said on January 22 that her father was in stable condition following the admission and that he was responding well to the treatment administered.

On January 26, Marina had said that Dr Mahathir had been transferred out of the Cardiac Care Unit and to an ordinary ward at IJN after his condition had continued to improve. – The Vibes, February 7, 2022
