ALOR SETAR – Police arrested six individuals, including a 16-year-old teenager, and seized drugs weighing 23.94kg worth RM576,000 in a raid in Kampung Tanah Merah, Jitra, near here yesterday.
Kedah police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan said the three men and three women were arrested in the raid at a two-storey house at 3.45am.
“The police found a canvas bag in the living room of the house containing 12 transparent plastic packages containing heroin weighing 5.44kg, a green plastic package containing a transparent plastic package of syabu weighing 1.01kg, and 24 plastic packages of syabu weighing 905.20g.
“The six suspects, aged between 16 and 34, were arrested and several case items were also seized to assist in the investigation,” he said in a press conference here today.
He said the items seized included a Mercedes Benz car, a Honda Civic car, a Perodua Myvi car, a BMW car, a Honda City car, three motorcycles, jewellery, and RM10,260 in cash.
Hasanuddin said further investigation on one of the suspects had led to the discovery of several more drugs in a Proton Satria Neo car parked near the house.
“In the car, the police found a paper box containing 15 transparent plastic packages of heroin weighing 6.75kg, a canvas bag containing 15 plastic packages of heroin weighing 6.75kg, and a backpack containing three packages of syabu weighing 3.04 kg.
“The total weight of drugs seized was heroin weighing 18.95kg worth RM378,000 and syabu weighing 4.99kg worth RM198,000,” he said.
He said three of the suspects were found to have previous criminal records involving various cases and one of them tested positive for syabu.
“Remand orders will be requested today and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said. – Bernama, November 10, 2020
