KUALA LUMPUR – An unsigned leaflet has been sighted in the World Trade Centre, where the Umno annual general assembly is held, claiming vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is the weakest prime minister in the country’s history.

Ismail Sabri is alleged to be a mere puppet after being pushed away to make way for former party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the stage after Barisan Nasional (BN) secured a supermajority in the Johor polls.

It also said the prime minister’s trips abroad are as useless as “an ashtray on a motorbike”, claiming that those visits failed to bear fruit.

“Fly to Singapore, fly to Indonesia, fly to Thailand, fly to Cambodia on a government jet. Those are all vacations! Those trips do not benefit (the country). Even Indonesia refused to sell weapons to us.”

It also took a jibe at human resources minister and MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, who had allegedly made a fool of Ismail Sabri on matters linked to the recruitment of migrant workers.

“He believes what Saravanan has been telling him to the point where the country is on the brink of collapse because of Bxxxxx (referring to a derogatory term used to describe Bangladesh nationals).

“The country has become a forced labour country. There is not one matter that Ismail can solve!”

Last December, Malaysia and Bangladesh signed a memorandum of understanding on the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers, effective for five years until December 2026.

Among other pressing issues raised by the malicious leaflet, which have yet to be resolved by the Bera MP were the Covid-19 pandemic, flooding, and the fourth round of withdrawals from the Employees Provident Fund.

It called for the 15th general election to be expedited, saying: “It’s best for us to quickly hold the general election. Once he is kicked out, we will be safe.”

In a lengthy address to its delegates yesterday, president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi rubbished claims of factionalism within Umno – one supposedly led by him and Najib, and one with other cabinet members – and called for unity.

Noting Umno’s revival in states like Perak, Melaka, and Johor, he reminded party members of the importance of not having camps within the political organisation.

Prior to his speech, talks of factions within the party have grown, with many alleging that Ismail Sabri’s position is being threatened by his party’s top leadership. – The Vibes, March 19, 2022
