KUALA LUMPUR – Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has announced that he will run for PKR’s vice-presidency in the party’s election this May.
The former PKR youth chief said he decided to participate in this year’s election, following former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli’s return to active politics with a run for the party’s deputy presidency.
“Rafizi’s announcement to return and contest as deputy president was well received by all PKR members, including those who want an alternative to Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional,” Nik Nazmi said in a video posted on Twitter.

“I intend to assist in his efforts, and hence offer myself to contest as PKR vice-president.”
Nik Nazmi said the May 13-18 party election is not a contest for power, but to build a new vision towards winning back support ahead of the next general election.
“I am confident the best combination is our president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with Rafizi as our deputy president, supported by our multi-ethnic team from Perlis to Sabah,” he said.
In a separate statement, former Kapar MP Manivanan Gowin declared today that he will contest as vice-president.
Manivanan said Rafizi’s return to active politics will mark the beginning of “the future” in PKR, bringing together the best of what the party’s veterans and young leadership have to offer.
Meanwhile, the party’s Wanita central leadership committee declared that they will nominate Wanita chief Fuziah Salleh as vice-president in the coming election.
Wanita PKR secretary Nor Azrina Surip said Fuziah has the credibility to hold the position and will also fulfil the requirement of at least 30% women’s representation in the leadership as outlined in their party constitution. – The Vibes, March 31, 2022
