BUKIT MERTAJAM – Seberang Prai will be developed to match the tourism products in George Town to increase visitors to the mainland, said Penang exco for Tourism and Creative Economy Yeoh Soon Hin.

“When tourists mention Penang, they think of the island, especially George Town. But Seberang Prai has many interesting areas. We hope that after this, tourists can allocate time to visit the mainland.”

He said this after launching The Opposite Side of the Island - Seberang Prai campaign in conjunction with the Penang Experience promotion that was unveiled last December.

“Some of Seberang Prai’s attractions are Frog Hill and agro-themed park Kg Agong. Nature lovers need not wait for borders to reopen to experience a different side of Penang.”

For the art enthusiasts, Yeoh said they could take a walk down Jalan Bagan Luar, which is now known as Butterworth Art Walk.

He added the mainland also has some shopping spots, for example Design Village Mall and Ikea.

“Other than that, there are interesting activities for the adventurous such as kayaking, fishing, camping, and many more at Pulau Aman.

“This is why it is never enough to spend two or three days in Penang because we have so much more to offer.” – The Vibes, April 11, 2022
