KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Idris Sultan Ibrahim has offered the services of his lawyers to carry out a watching brief on the case of alleged abuse involving teenager Bella, who has Down’s syndrome.

He said he will contact Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun regarding his offer, which would enable his line of lawyers to carry out observation instructions on behalf of the ministry without charge.

“I have contacted and discussed with my lawyers about Bella’s abuse case.

“This case is ongoing at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court and the government prosecution has started the trial against OKT (the accused) in this case,” he said on his Facebook page last night.

He noted that the prosecution case at this time involves two parties, namely the government public prosecutor on behalf of the government/public, and the lawyer appointed to represent the accused.

“I will contact the Family, Women and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and offer the services of my lawyers free of charge to conduct a watching brief on behalf of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development for this case,” he said.

Earlier, Che’ Puan Khaleeda Bustamam, the wife of Tunku Ismail, promised on her Instagram account to get justice for Bella.

“I will do anything to get justice for Bella. I am disgusted with cowards who think they can do anything against incapacitated children and think they will miss out.

“You can hide in the best ranks of your lawyers but karma will eventually come to you in this world and the hereafter.

“You will definitely be an example of a coward out there.”

Siti Bainun, 30, is charged with two counts of neglecting and abusing the teen between February and June 2021, resulting in the victim sustaining physical and emotional injuries.
