KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Umno is confident of taking back the Sepanggar federal seat from Warisan in the next general election, citing a shift in voter support towards Barisan Nasional.

The state’s Umno deputy chief Datuk Yakub Khan said the findings from several studies conducted by his party pointed towards the switch of pollsters’ backing.

“We are not boasting, but voters are fed up with the current unstable political scenario, which is also affecting them,” he said during a briefing and workshop for the 15th general election in Sepanggar.

Yakub who is also the Sepanggar Umno division chief said efforts are being made by the party to woo the constituents.

He said all the party machineries have already been activated to carry out work in reaching out to the voters in Sepanggar.

In the 14th general election, Warisan youth chief Datuk Azis Jamman took down Umno’s Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan with a whopping 12,984 majority.

Meanwhile, Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Saturday said a fresh mandate must be sought once the Memorandum of Understanding with Pakatan Harapan expires on July 31.

He said chances of another political crisis will become likely, the longer the current stand-in government stays.

Bung said the current government is not an elected government. – The Vibes, April 18, 2022
