KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded a total of 8,267 recovered cases yesterday, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 4,283,013, according to Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said new cases reported yesterday were also below the 10,000 mark at 6,968 cases, bringing the cumulative number of positive cases in the country to 4,409,202.
Dr Noor Hisham also said that 99.65% or 6,937 out of the total daily cases reported yesterday were in Categories 1 and 2, while 0.44% or 31 cases were in categories 3, 4 and 5.
“Of the total new cases, 6,936 cases are local transmissions while another 32 are imported cases. A total of 97 cases require treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 63 cases require respiratory assistance,” he said in a statement today.
Commenting on the use of dedicated health facilities for Covid-19 cases, the DG said no state recorded the use of ICU beds and non-ICU beds exceeding 50%.
He said Selangor recorded the highest percentage of ICU and non-ICU bed use at 37% and 45% respectively.
“The infectivity rate or Rt value recorded nationwide yesterday stood at 0.84 with Melaka recording the highest rate 0.89, while Kelantan recording the lowest rate at 0.63,” he said. – Bernama, April 21, 2022
