PUTRAJAYA – It is no longer mandatory to check into premises by scanning the QR codes with the MySejahtera contact tracing application May 1 onwards, said Khairy Jamaluddin today.

He, however, strongly urged the public to turn on their MySJ Trace function within the application to allow notifications if one has been in contact with other potentially high-risk users.

“Premises owners need only check the risk status of individuals looking to enter for verification,” said the health minister during a press conference here today.

Khairy said MySejahtera’s tracing function will soon be expanded to notify users of potential risks involving other infectious diseases, such as rabies, measles, hand foot and mouth disease and dengue.

He added that MySejahtera will remain an important tool for the government to monitor the Covid-19 situation with reporting of new cases and daily health assessments of patients still conducted through the application.

Khairy also quashed the previous requirement that only permits fully vaccinated individuals to patronise businesses and services in person.

He said those with incomplete vaccination status will no longer be barred from entering premises provided staffers verify the customers’ Covid-19 low-risk status.

“Those who are fully vaccinated but Covid-19 positive, and those undergoing their home surveillance order, including travellers with incomplete vaccine doses will still not be allowed to enter these businesses and their premises.”

Separately, he said handshakes and physical greetings, especially during the upcoming Hari Raya festivities will now be allowed, with the public strongly reminded to regularly wash and sanitise their hands.

Despite these new regulations coming just in time for the Hari Raya festivities, Khairy reminded the public that Covid-19 patients are strictly barred from participating in gatherings, while those exhibiting symptoms are strongly urged to abstain from socialising. – The Vibes, April 26, 2022
