GEORGE TOWN – There has been no further discussion on the proposed “big tent” cooperation so far, said DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

The Seremban MP said DAP is currently focused on strengthening cooperation within Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“What is important is to strengthen PH. On the question of seat distribution strategy, we have no discussions with any party (outside PH),” he said at a press conference in Komtar today.

Earlier, Loke paid a courtesy call to the Chief Minister's Office, and this was his first courtesy call in Penang since taking over to helm DAP.

Last month, Amanah deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub urged the PH leadership to be open to holding discussions with all opposition bloc parties ahead of the 15th general election (GE15).

Loke, however, said the issue of cooperation between PH and Perikatan Nasional (PN) does not arise as PN is still a part of the government bloc.

Earlier, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the party was ready to cooperate with any political party to ensure straight fights against BN in GE15.

Meanwhile, Loke said he admitted that DAP cannot be too confident in defending Penang in the next election.

“We did not discuss a majority victory. What’s most important is that we can maintain a win with a comfortable amount.

“We will work hard, and central DAP will also give full support to Penang so this mandate can be maintained.” – The Vibes, May 20, 2022
