KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has appointed six individuals, including the former deputy head of the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ Prosecution Division, Datuk Ahmad Rosli Mohd Sham, as panellists for its independent oversight body.
The six individuals were appointed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently, with their appointments taking effect from April 1 this year until March 31, 2024.
An unnamed MACC spokesman said five of the individuals have been reappointed as members of its Operations Assessment Panel (PPO), while another member has replaced a member of its Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel (PPPR) who resigned from the post in December.
“All the individuals consist of professionals and experts in many fields and are representing the community in monitoring MACC’s role and operations,” the spokesman said.
“The PPO and PPPR appointment letters were given by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at the MACC headquarters, Putrajaya, today.”
Rosli was named the chair of the panel, while the remaining members consist of former Kelantan state secretary Datuk Mohd Faudzi Che Mamat and former Inland Revenue Board deputy chief executive (compliance) Datuk Abdul Manap Dim.
Additionally, the panel includes former Customs Department deputy director (enforcement and compliance) Datuk Azimah Abd Hamid, and former Bank Negara Malaysia intelligence and enforcement deputy director Mazlan Ahmad.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd executive vice-chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din was appointed as the new member of the PPPR.
In December last year, renowned economist Prof Edmund Terence Gomez stepped down as a member of the PPPR, citing a failure to discuss accusations of conflict of interest against some of its leaders. – The Vibes, May 30, 2022
