PUTRAJAYA – Datuk Saraya Arbi is the new secretary-general of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) effective from today, says chief secretary to the government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.
Prior to the new appointment, Saraya, 59, was the ministry’s deputy secretary-general.
Mohd Zuki, in a statement today, said the appointment of Saraya was based on her qualifications, leadership qualities and vast experience while holding several positions in various fields.
Saraya has served in human resources and policy and strategic planning, especially in the Public Service Department and Motac.
“I believe that with her experience, knowledge and credibility, Saraya is able to lead Malaysia’s tourism and cultural sector as one of the main contributors to the country’s economy,” said Mohd Zuki.
Saraya, who holds a master’s degree in public administration from New York University, the United States, has been in the civil service for 33 years, starting as an administrative and diplomatic officer on Aug 1, 1989. – Bernama, June 1, 2022
