KUALA LUMPUR – Netizens are up in arms over a viral video of a man putting a vape stick into a baby girl’s mouth even though her mother was on camera.

The mother initially tried to stop the man, believed to be her boyfriend, but was later seen encouraging him to do so, glibly saying “pecah rekod ah, Abi, pecah rekod nanti you sedut (this will break records)”.

The video was first uploaded as an Instagram Story before it was shared by another person on Twitter yesterday. It has since garnered more than 300,000 views.

The clip caught the eye of MedTweetMy founder Dr Khairul Hafidz Alkhair Khairul Amin, who labelled the man’s actions as “unacceptable” and promised to submit it to the relevant authorities.

As for other netizens, many termed the act as “irresponsible” and an example of bad parenting.

A Twitter user known as WN urged the mother to let someone more responsible care for the child.

Another user known as Izz suggested that it was child endangerment and hoped that a report would be made against the parent.

“That kid deserves better parents,” she said.

Twitter user Fanaizty, who shared the video on Twitter, said a complaint has been lodged with the Social Welfare Department.

“Based on the info that was given to me by fellow netizens, I have lodged a report with Social SWD. Hopefully this matter will be taken seriously by the authorities.” – The Vibes, August 6, 2022
