JOHOR BHARU – Flash floods caused by heavy rain yesterday evening has forced the evacuation of 40 families comprising 155 people in two districts in Johor.
Thirty-six families comprising 144 people have moved out of Kampung Pasir, Kampung Seri Serdang, Kampung Pengkalan Rinting and Kampung Seri Jaya in the Johor Bahru district as of 8am today, said State Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan.
Four families comprising 11 people have evacuated from Kampung Ulu Pulai in the Pontian district, he said in a statement.
The evacuees are being housed at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Pasir in Johor Bahru and at the Masjid Kampung hall in Ulu Pulai, Pontian, he said.
Vidyananthan said the government will frequently monitor the flood situation in the state and will provide aid to the people affected by floods. – Bernama, November 22, 2020
