SHAH ALAM – Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has been turned into a “cautionary tale” in PKR as the former party deputy president’s name was again mentioned during the party election convention this afternoon.

Azmin’s successor Rafizi Ramli has issued a stern warning to PKR members to not emulate the former in “backstabbing” the party.

Rafizi, addressing more than 3,500 party members at the convention, said should the party succeed in reclaiming Putrajaya after the 15th general election (GE15), members should not expect government positions.

“If we win (in GE15) and you don’t get any government positions, don’t backstab us like Azmin and his friends,” he said.

“With GE15 around the corner, we need to align our intentions so that we do not head to the polls eyeing for positions.

“I will say it now so if there are individuals who do not get nominated as candidates, please don’t sabotage the party.”

Azmin quit the party for Bersatu in 2020, bringing another 10 MPs with him, which led to an exodus of some PKR grassroots members.

Instead, the former Pandan MP brought up the importance of fulfilling responsibilities for the future of the future generation, saying “it’s not fair that we leave them with a lot of debt to bear.”

In related matters, he said Pakatan Harapan (PH) will complete discussions pertaining to seat allocation for GE15 in a month’s time.

“I am confident that PH will be able to defend Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang, in fact, we have the opportunity to form government at the federal level in GE15.”

He also called on party members to disregard Umno’s infighting and focus on PKR’s preparation to face the national polls.

“Let them (Umno) fight. What I want to say is that, we are ready anytime (to face the polls).” – The Vibes, August 27, 2022
