KUALA LUMPUR – The question of whether the government intends to advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to declare a state of emergency in Gerik and Bugaya, similar to what has been done in Batu Sapi, will be raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to the Order Paper, the matter, as well as the issue of voters’ rights, will be brought up in a question by Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (BN-Pontian) to the prime minister.

Teo Nie Ching (PH-Kulai) is scheduled to ask the education minister about the effectiveness of TV Pendidikan and the number of students following its programmes, as well as whether the Education Ministry has any plans to extend the TV Pendidikan broadcast time.

Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz (PAS-Bachok) will ask the home minister about the latest status of the construction of three vessels for the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency that will be used to enhance operations against encroachment by foreign fishing boats.

Datuk Mohamad Alamin (BN-Kimanis) is expected to ask the international trade and industry minister to clarify the strategy and direction related to the country’s imports and exports, to increase foreign investors’ confidence in Malaysia, particularly Sabah.

The sitting will continue with the winding up of the policy-level debate on the Supply Bill 2021.

Among the ministries scheduled to wind up the debate today are the Defence, Transport, Environment and Water, Human Resources and Higher Education Ministries. – Bernama, November 24, 2020
