PETALING JAYA  – The Selangor government has yet to decide on whether it will hold a state election concurrently with the upcoming general election (GE15) in the event of snap polls, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shaari.

Amirudin said the matter will have to be discussed by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership, apart from obtaining guidance from Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.

“It has not come to my dreams yet. I still need inspiration from my dreams,” he told reporters after launching the Coffee Table Book by Air Selangor at One Utama Shopping Centre, here this afternoon.

“We will have to discuss at every level. Of course, I’ll get guidance from His Royal Highness and the top leadership (of PH).”

In March, the Selangor PH chairman said the state government does not intend to dissolve its state assembly if the election was called anytime soon.

After holding talks with several PH menteris besar, Amirudin said they unanimously supported allowing the current administration to complete its full term, adding that the polls should ideally be held between April and May next year.

Asked whether PH was looking to gain a two-thirds majority in Selangor, he said the coalition will try its best to get a sustainable majority to form a stable government.

“Of course, the most simple (target) is just to win (the election). But we want to defend the state as best as we can.” – The Vibes, September 13, 2022
