KUALA LUMPUR – Police have opened an investigation paper into a gathering in front of the Sogo shopping complex here.

Dang Wangi district police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said several individuals have been identified and will be called in to have their statements recorded.

Bernama reported that he said the investigation is being done under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 for holding a gathering without notice.

Noor Dellhan said some 50 people including university students and members of political parties participated in the gathering.

The gathering was held to oppose calls to hold a general election during the monsoon season later this year.

Among those who were present were Muar MP and Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Muda central committee member Nurainie Haziqah Shafii, DAP’s Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee, and Kg Tunku rep Lim Yi Wei. – The Vibes, September 24, 2022
