KUALA LUMPUR – A total of RM1 billion has been allocated for the elderly and ageing community in Budget 2023, said Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

The amount is a significant increase compared to the RM580 million allocated in 2020, he said when tabling the supply bill in Parliament today.

Welfare assistance rates for senior citizens have been increased and the expansion of eligibility categories has increased the allocation for next year, he added.

Single seniors from the B40 category will continue to receive Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia cash assistance ranging from RM350 and RM600, depending on certain income limits.
