KUALA LUMPUR – PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil has denied rumours that two individuals charged with alleged involvement in the abduction of Palestinians in the country are members of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) component party.
Fahmi, who is also the incumbent Lembah Pantai MP, dismissed accusations that a man and a woman among the 11 people charged last week at the Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ court over the incident hold PKR memberships.
“Yesterday, allegations made the rounds on social media that two charged individuals – Nidarahayu Zainal and Raibafie Amdan – are members of PKR or have connections with the party.
“I can verify that both of them are not PKR members at any party branch and have nothing to do with the party,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He added that photos from 2018 being circulated showing the man and the woman waving PKR flags are a reflection of their personal political choices and have no direct relation to the party.
It was reported on October 14 that 11 individuals were charged with the kidnapping of a Palestinian man to solicit information on software to hack mobile phones.
The incident has been reported by New Straits Times as an operation by Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency using locals to kidnap “high value” Palestinians in Malaysia said to be linked to Hamas.
Following the expose, police are calling in the paper’s group editor, Farrah Naz Karim, for questioning.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said today that police have yet to confirm Mossad’s involvement in the kidnapping of the Palestinians.
He also said that investigations are still ongoing into the claims published by NST, adding that the report has “created speculations and interfered with police investigations.” – The Vibes, October 19, 2022
