KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) Ampang candidate Rodziah Ismail has called on constituents to reject traitors, saying that they do not belong in Ampang.

Taking a potshot at incumbent Ampang MP and former PKR party comrade Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, Rodziah said that it does not matter whether she (Zuraida) had served as a federal minister – her betrayal has no place in the Selangor constituency.

“Thank Allah, I feel that this is the time Ampang voters can say they reject the betrayal of their trust.

“It doesn’t matter if she (Zuraida) had held the seat for three terms, appointed as a minister or menteri besar, I feel that this is not the place for betrayal,” Rodziah told the press after nomination period was over today.

She acknowledged that she has a heavy burden on her shoulders as the PH rep but is confident that she can carry out her duties as best as she can.

The PH candidate will focus on her manifesto prioritising cost of living, the economy, jobs, housing and education and bringing back Ampang’s character and “persona” to the fore.

Earlier, hundreds of supporters from various parties had gathered at Dewan Datuk Ahmad Razali to support their respective candidates.

A local PKR leader, Che Zainol, told The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal Getaran that Zuraida’s party-hopping had angered many locals, including himself.

“I used to support Zuraida but because she betrayed (our trust) and only thought of herself, her supporters are angry. I’m angry,” he said at the outskirts of the nomination event today.

The Ampang parliamentary seat will see a nine-cornered fight with incumbent Zuraida taking on Pakatan Harapan’s Rodziah, Barisan Nasional’s Ivone Low, Perikatan Nasional’s Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif, Pejuang’s Nurul Ashikin Mabahwi, Warisan’s Lai Wai Chong and three independent candidates Muhammad Shafiq Izwan Mohd Yunos, Tan Hua Meng and M Raveendran. – The Vibes, November 5, 2022
