TG MALIM – Thirteen students were injured today when an overloaded bus ferrying them from their university campus here to nearby hostels lost control and crashed into a ditch.

The emergency services department received a call at 7.13pm and dispatched a unit from the Kuala Kubu Baru fire station.

According to a preliminary report from the Fire Department, the incident occurred on Jalan Utama near Proton City and involved a 44-seater bus that was carrying 10 passengers above its limit.

Those injured were brought to the Slim River Hospital with minor injuries, according to a copy of the department’s report sighted by The Vibes.

Of the 54 victims, 22 were male and 32 were female.

As of press time, it is unclear what caused the accident. However, the fire department has said that investigations are ongoing. – The Vibes, November 9, 2022
