GEORGE TOWN – Pakatan Harapan (PH) is doing its best to gather enough support from other political parties to form a unity government given the coalition’s 82 seats is far from the numbers needed for a simple majority, said Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

“Based on the results of the 15th general election announced by the Election Commission, the PH coalition won the most parliamentary seats at 82. However, the number is not enough to get a simple majority to form the government.

“Thus, on our part, the national-level PH leadership is doing its best now to gather the necessary support from other political parties to form a unity government.

“After all, we need to realise that in this election, not even a single party has the majority to form the government at the federal level.”

He added that all parties must work together to form a strong and stable government to lead the country.

Chow said this after a walkabout to meet voters in Juru, who gave him an overwhelming majority for the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat.

This was the first time in his political career that he contested in the Prai area.

Chow won with a majority of 40,400 votes, defeating Wong Chia Zhen of Perikatan Nasional, Tan Lee Huat (Barisan Nasional), Ong Chin Wen of Warisan, and Lee Ah Leong of Parti Rakyat Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Penang PKR legal bureau chief Jason Ong Khan Lee said PH deserves the right of way to form the government seeing it is the coalition with the most seats. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
