KOTA KINABALU – Scuba diving activities are allowed to resume in Sabah, although at a reduced capacity.
Calling the decision good news for divers and the local diving industry, Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the National Security Council has agreed with the Sabah government’s suggestion to allow scuba diving activities in the state to resume.
“However, boats can only ferry at 30% capacity, including the captain,” he said.
He said specifics on standard operating procedures will be issued by the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry.
Masidi added that it is not allowed in areas under the enhanced movement control order.
He said they can resume in red zone areas bound by the district perimeters and cannot involve cross-district travel.
“The intention here is to allow diving as a recreational activity to reduce people’s stress during the conditional movement control order.” – The Vibes, November 30, 2020
