KUALA LUMPUR – Gombak MP and Senior Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has been sued by 10 of his constituents, nine months after the Sheraton Move that led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government, reported Free Malaysia Today.

The voters filed the suit against Azmin at the high court last week for deceit and breach of a fiduciary duty. They are reportedly seeking a declaration that Azmin owes them fiduciary duty as their elected representative.

They are also seeking a declaration that the minister had violated his constitutional oath under Article 59(1), read with the 6th Schedule of the federal constitution, reported FMT.

According to the suit, the voters are seeking damages and other orders deemed fit by the court.

According to FMT, their statement of claim said that Azmin’s stance in the 2018 general election was to oust the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and pledge adherance to the PH manifesto.

On February 23, several leaders from BN, PAS, Bersatu and PKR – Azmin included – held a meeting at Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya.

That later led to then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigning.

The power grab ended with the collapse of PH and Perikatan Nasional taking over the federal government. – The Vibes, December 1, 2020
