KANGAR – Perlis Raja Muda Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail has decreed that officers and members of the Territorial Army’s 504 Regiment be placed in standby mode so that they can be deployed whenever needed.

He also decreed that each regiment’s officer and volunteer must have skills comparable to the regular troops to ensure that the concept of augmentation can be implemented.

“This can be realised with an increase in (the number of Territorial Army members) undergoing military training with the regular army,” said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also the commander of the Territorial Army’s 504 Regiment, in a statement issued by Istana Arau today.

Yesterday, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin granted an audience to 504 Regiment Deputy Commander Lt-Col Lasahi Laiji at the Arau Royal Gallery to discuss the regiment’s direction and planning for this year.

Meanwhile, Lasahi urged young people in Perlis to attend the recruitment and selection process of the 504 Regiment, which will be held at the Bukit Keteri camp from January 30 to February 3, starting at 8am.

He said greater youth participation in the Territorial Army would enable them to act as frontliners in facing any threat to the country. – Bernama, January 25, 2023
