IPOH – Perak PKR has given its word to render its support to the state government after outgoing Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Faizal Azumu failed to garner enough votes in today’s motion of confidence.

Its state chairman, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said today that Perak PKR welcomes the decision and will cooperate with the state government to ensure that the people’s welfare is not neglected.

“Amid this ongoing Covid-19 outbreak to have a state election will be harmful to the people. But what is clear is that Peja (Faizal) has been rejected in the state legislative assembly.

“The fact that the motion from Datuk Abd Manaf Hashim (BN-Pengkalan Baharu) was expedited proved that Peja’s government has no validity.

“I would like to advise Peja to reflect on himself after being rejected by his own component parties despite being allies for nine months,” said Farhash.

Faizal was unseated after 48 of the 59 state legislative members voted against him. Only 10 voted for him while one vote was spoilt. The motion of confidence was tabled by Abdul Manaf.

Manaf said the confidence motion arose from the MB’s questionable support and the public perception of Perak’s “backdoor” administration.

“We need a leader whose support is unquestionable. An administration that is not tied to a backdoor administration.”

However, during the debate on the motion, Razman Zakaria (Pas-Gunung Semanggol) argued that changing a Government in the midst of a pandemic is tantamount to a betrayal of public trust. – The Vibes, December 4, 2020
