KUALA LUMPUR – Transport Minister Anthony Loke has thanked his predecessor regarding the latter’s opinion on the Road Transport Department’s MyJPJ app.
The Seremban MP expressed good-natured appreciation when asked to comment on Datuk Wee Ka Siong’s criticisms of the recently launched app, adding that the latter’s opinions will be taken into consideration.
“I thank the former minister for expressing his concerns,” he said when asked about Wee’s comments in the Dewan Rakyat during a press conference at the launch of MyRailLife in KL Sentral here today.
“All remarks, criticisms, and views will be taken into consideration,” said Loke, who is also DAP secretary-general.
Loke added that the ministry will place emphasis on troubleshooting all weaknesses and refining existing features while pursuing its digitalisation agenda for the country’s public transportation systems.
Yesterday, Wee, who is Ayer Hitam MP and MCA president, criticised the MyJPJ app for being “unsafe” and at risk of data leaks during the debate on the royal address in the house.
He claimed that the app’s one criterion of only providing a MyKad number for the registration process could lead to millions of personal data being leaked.
Nonetheless, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that any shortcomings of the app have been overcome before its launch last Friday.
Previously, Loke had announced that Malaysians are no longer required to display their road tax stickers on their private vehicles, encouraging motorists to download MyJPJ or visit the department’s public portal to view their motor vehicle and driving licences. – The Vibes, February 16, 2023
