KUALA LUMPUR – The Shared Prosperity Vision, or Wawasan Kemakmuran Bersama 2030 (WKB 2030), is no longer the main reference base in drafting the national development’s direction, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

In a parliamentary reply, Armizan (Papar-GRS) said that the unity government’s Malaysia Madani will be replacing the previous concept.

“The Malaysia Madani concept mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will lift and restore the nation’s dignity,” he said.

“The vision is based on the principles of sustainability, well-being, creativity, respect, confidence and courtesy towards a new Malaysia that impresses on the world stage, replacing WKB 2030.

“The government will not refer to WKB 2030 as the main reference in formulating the direction for national development,” he stated.

However, Armizan pointed out that several initiatives that have been planned under WKB2030 that were impactful and beneficial to the people will be continued.

Armizan’s response comes after Jamaluddin Yahya (Pasar Salak-PN) questioned the prime minister about the Malaysia Madani concept substituting WKB 2030.

In 2019, then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad launched the WKB 2030 vision to reflect Malaysia’s commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.

This blueprint, based on 10 key economic targets, focuses on making Malaysia a competitive and comprehensive affluent country by making its citizens an important element of sustainable economic development by 2030. – The Vibes, March 14, 2023
